Presentation of Web of Science Database Capabilities to the Academic Community
On March 23, a training session titled “Web of Science in Practice: From Research Planning to Evaluation of Results” was held at VILNIUS TECH. The session was led by a representative of Clarivate Analytics, Marcin Kapczynski, who introduced the capabilities of the Web of Science database and its practical application in scientific research.
Participants were introduced to the platform’s tools that enable efficient scientific literature search, analysis of citation data, and monitoring of research trends.
During the event, it was discussed how Web of Science can be used to identify key and emerging research areas, build collaboration networks, and select the most suitable journal for publication. Considerable attention was also given to author profile management, analysis of citation indicators, and evaluation of research impact.
Web of Science is a database subscribed to by the university and remains one of the most influential in the world. It is widely used by the academic community – researchers, lecturers, and students – for both research evaluation and everyday study and research tasks.
