Our centre’s goal is to help lecturers overcome challenges that arise when teaching students.
Some APC activities are designed for students – including psychological counselling, training, and assistance from a coordinator for students with individual needs.

The team of educators, psychologists, and digital experts assists the university community in tackling academic challenges and finding creative solutions.

  • Group of Educational Competencies

    The Educational Competence Group (EKG) identifies the needs of VILNIUS TECH lecturers, runs professional development activities, and holds seminars on higher education teaching. EKG also drives study innovations to ensure student-focused learning.

    The group coordinates educational competence experts, works with student mentors and the VGTU Engineering Lyceum, and supports academic quality by providing training for study programme committees and guidance on programme evaluation and development.

  • E-Learning Group

    The Electronic Studies Group focuses on strengthening digital competencies within the VILNIUS TECH community and supports the use of educational technologies in on-campus, remote, and hybrid learning.

    Main activities:

    • Organising digital skill training for lecturers, students, and administrative staff;
    • Providing consultations on the virtual learning environment Moodle, plagiarism detection software, video conferencing systems, and other digital tools;
    • Developing and regularly updating the Moodle Guide for lecturers;
    • Advising lecturers on Moodle course approval;
    • Administering the Moodle platform for external users;
    • Organising supplementary mathematics and physics lessons for school students preparing for final exams.

    Consultation topics:

    • Creating tests in Moodle and ensuring academic integrity;
    • Preparing Moodle courses for remote learning;
    • Using Moodle tools effectively;
    • Applying plagiarism detection systems;
    • Safely conducting remote classes or conferences;
    • Managing hybrid lectures.

    Additional activities:

    The Electronic Studies Group continuously monitors digital developments, participates in conferences and experience-sharing events, and is a member of the Lithuanian Distance Learning Network (LieDM) support and development consortium.

  • Psychological Support and Disability Affairs Group

    Psychological Services for Students and Lecturers

    • Individual psychological consultations for students;

    • Seminars on psychological topics (stress management, learning skills, time management);

    • Psychoeducational lectures for students and lecturers to improve the psychological climate;

    • Consultations for lecturers experiencing difficulties in communicating with students or teaching.

  • Audiovisual Technology Group

    The group manages and maintains the university’s audio and visual technologies.

    Main activities:

    • Maintaining audio and visual equipment and ensuring its quality;

    • Organising equipment repairs within the group’s facilities;

    • Providing equipment for university meetings, scientific conferences, dissertation defences, and other events.

What do we do?

The Academic Support Centre organises and delivers training and consultations for VILNIUS TECH lecturers, promoting lifelong learning and student-centred education. The centre provides opportunities for lecturers to continuously develop their higher education teaching, digital, and general competencies.

Training topics include innovative teaching and assessment methods, problem-based learning, engineering education, and the principles of deep learning.

More details: Topics include tools in the Moodle virtual learning environment, artificial intelligence applications, MS Teams, and the use of web and mobile applications such as Canva, Mentimeter, Miro, and others.

Psychoeducational Training, Events, and Consultations

These trainings are designed for lecturers facing challenges in teaching, communicating with, or motivating students.

Topics include the learning characteristics of Generation Z, stress management, and maintaining emotional balance at work. The annual event “Wellbeing Day” focuses on psychological topics within the academic community.

Support for Staff Working with Students with Individual Needs

The centre organises training and provides consultations for lecturers working with students who have individual needs.

Annual Best Lecturer Awards

Each year, 10 top lecturers are recognised based on evaluations from colleagues, department heads, the awards committee, and students.

Laureates receive the “I Teach at VILNIUS TECH” badge and certificates for teaching, the application of methods and technologies, and fostering positive relationships with students. The awards have been held annually since 2022.

Training sessions and experience-sharing events are organised on current and relevant topics.

Consultations for Moodle Course Approval

For lecturers teaching subjects in part-time or fully online programmes, Moodle course approval is mandatory. Lecturers of full-time programmes can approve their courses as a teaching resource.

The centre provides consultations and training on effective remote and hybrid teaching, covering everything from technology use to the application of interactive educational methods.

Professional development in educational competencies is mandatory. A special committee evaluates the relevance and suitability of external training attended.

Subject-Specific Professional Development Courses

VILNIUS TECH offers flexible professional development programmes in technology, physical sciences, and social sciences, as well as continuing education opportunities at faculties and training centres.

More details: Courses are developed according to pre-agreed programmes that meet institutional needs. Trainings are delivered by experienced lecturers and certified specialists. Participants who pass the exams receive official VILNIUS TECH professional development certificates.
