Full-time studies
- Duration – up to 4 years.
- Financed from the state budget, the doctoral student’s funds or the company’s funds.
- The doctoral studies and research are supervised by the doctoral student’s scientific supervisor.
- Doctoral students, whose studies are funded by the state budget, are paid a monthly scholarship:
– for the first year – 1406 EUR
– for the second–fourth year – 1628 EUR
Part-time studies
- Duration – up to 6 years.
- Financed by the doctoral student’s funds or the company’s funds.
- The doctoral studies and research are supervised by the doctoral student’s scientific supervisor.
Structure
A Doctor of Science degree is awarded to a person who has successfully completed full-time or part-time doctoral studies, prepared a doctoral dissertation and defended it, or to a person who has defended a dissertation prepared independently (externally).

Admission requirements
Applicants for doctoral studies in a specific field through an open competition must hold a master’s degree or an equivalent higher education qualification and meet the other requirements specified in the Doctoral Admission Regulations.

Preparation for admission
Although admissions take place in June, it is recommended to contact a potential supervisor in April or May and familiarize yourself with dissertation topics and study opportunities.
