About

Contemporary audiovisual and media creation is changing rapidly: traditional cinema, TV and digital content production is being supplemented by virtual production, extended reality (XR), advanced image and sound processing, and interactive media. This transformation creates a need for creators who are able to think artistically, work with technology and independently realise media art projects from idea to result.

Today, the professional field of a media creator encompasses not only the creation of works, but also the planning of creative processes, the organisation of production, production, distribution, teamwork, and responsibility for the impact of the work on the audience and society. The programme emphasises the synergy between art and technology and practice-based learning through projects, forming the student's portfolio.

The aim of the Media Creation and Digital Technologies study programme is to prepare independent media art creators who are able to responsibly create, realise and evaluate various forms of media art works, consistently applying contemporary and emerging technologies, the principles of artistic and research activities, and intermedia creative practices.

  • What will I be able to do?

    • create and implement media art projects using contemporary creative technologies (including virtual production methods, image and sound processing, lighting and sound principles);
    • plan and organise audiovisual production processes (from pre-visualisation, scriptwriting and filming to post-production);
    • work in an intermedia/transmedia creative environment, create content in various formats and present it in real and virtual spaces;
    • conduct media art research: analyse media art phenomena, justify creative decisions, conduct media art research;
    • comply with copyright, professional ethics and responsibility principles in media creation;
    • work in a team, manage the progress of a creative project, plan time and activities, adapt to technological changes in the creative process.

  • What are my career opportunities?

    • work as a media creator in the film, TV, advertising, digital content, audiovisual projects and creative industries sectors;
    • work in virtual production, XR and interactive media project development teams (in creative and technological roles);
    • work in the fields of audio and video post-production (editing, audio post-production, dubbing, etc.);
    • work in creative project production, production process organisation, location management and communication positions;
    • develop a creative business/start-up in the field of entertainment and creative industries;
    • continue studies at the master’s level, deepen competencies in media arts, creative research or related fields.

Admission requirements

When applying for the Media Creation and Digital Technologies study programme, applicants must take a Media Arts Skills Exam, which is an academic selection tool designed to assess the candidate’s creative potential, artistic abilities, technological literacy (understanding of the application of audiovisual technologies) and motivation to study in the programme.

The exam is held during the general admission exam session and is graded on a 100-point scale; the competitive score of applicants for this programme is calculated based solely on the results of the entrance exam.

The exam consists of two compulsory parts:

1) Portfolio of creative works – up to 60 points

The purpose of the portfolio is to assess the artistic quality, originality, consistency of ideas, technological execution and ability to clearly present and justify the artistic concept of the applicant’s work.

It is recommended that the portfolio contains completed audiovisual and/or intermedial projects involving digital technology. Examples include films, video clips, animations, multimedia works, audio and video experiments, interactive works, VR/AR/XR experiences, VFX experiments and generative graphics solutions.

2) Motivational interview – up to 40 points

The purpose of the motivational interview is to assess the applicant’s motivation, creative vision and critical attitude towards audiovisual art/media culture processes. The interview focuses on the applicant’s way of thinking and reflection, rather than just repeating terms or “correct” knowledge.

The interview is conducted according to a pre-arranged schedule, either in person or remotely, and lasts up to 15 minutes. The commission may ask clarifying questions, but must apply the same criteria to all applicants.

Read more about the first part of the exam here.
