About the Library

Mission: to meet the requirements of the University community for the information needed in research and studies, accept the challenges of a changing academic environment and communication technologies progress.
Vision: to become an attractive center of information and cultural life.

Tasks:

the primary goal of the library is to supply readers with information regarding the progress of research, education and learning at the university;
to make the local and external information resources accessible to the VILNIUS TECH community;
to become an active participant in the study process, in individual and group work, seminars, lectures, and self-education.

2022

Library Director I. Kasperaitienė has been elected Chair of the Lithuanian Research Libraries Association (LMBA).

2016

Ingrida Kasperaitienė has assumed the position of Director of the Library.

2010

The Library became a member of the Consortium for the Support and Development of the Lithuanian Academic Libraries’ Information Infrastructure for Research and Studies (LABIIMSPP Consortium).

2009

Within the framework of the project “eMoDB.LT: Opening of Electronic Scientific Databases to Lithuania,” the Library initiated subscriptions to electronic publications.

2008

An innovative electronic services platform — “Information e-Bridge: Library–University–Student (BUS)” — was implemented.

2007

The first 24-hour reading room in Lithuania was opened.

2005

The first art gallery in the Saulėtekis district — Gallery A — was opened.

2004

The collection of the University’s final theses was launched in the Lithuanian Electronic Theses and Dissertations Information System (ETD IS), which stores Master’s theses, doctoral dissertations, and their abstracts.

2002

Reading rooms for Electronics (Naugarduko g. 41), Architecture (Trakų g. 1/26), and Construction and Business Management (Saulėtekio al. 11) were established.

2000

The Ex Libris integrated information resource management system ALEPH 500 (an electronic catalogue for searching and ordering publications) was implemented.

14 September 2000

The Library was relocated to renovated premises at Saulėtekio al. 14 (architect: Prof. N. Bučiūtė).

1997

The Library became a member of the “Lithuanian Academic Libraries Network”.

1962

Algirdas Antanas Baliulis assumed the position of Director of the Library.

1962

The Library was established (Basanavičiaus g. 28).
