Laboratory of Environmental Protection and Working Conditions

The laboratory is modern and progressive, with a team of experienced, responsible and professional specialists.

The laboratory has implemented a quality management system to ensure the quality of its services and meet clients’ needs in accordance with the requirements of the LST EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard.

Services Provided by the Institute

Research on the Acoustic Properties of Porous Materials

The Institute performs studies on the characterisation and analysis of the acoustic properties of porous materials. Sound absorption and sound transmission loss are measured experimentally by applying transfer function and transfer matrix methods. The research is carried out using the AED Acousti Tube interferometer system, Microtech Gefell M370 microphones, the Sinus Apollo Light data acquisition system, and AED Acousti Studio software.

Assessment of Material Physical Properties and Prediction of Acoustic Performance

The laboratory determines the main physical properties of materials, including density, airflow resistivity, and other parameters that influence acoustic characteristics. The acoustic properties of porous materials are predicted using the Delany–Bazley–Miki and transfer matrix models with AFMG SoundFlow software. The results of the research are presented in reports, including recommendations for the design of sound-absorbing materials.

Development of Environmental Monitoring Programmes and Research in Municipalities

The Institute’s staff prepare environmental monitoring programmes for municipalities, coordinate them with the responsible authorities, and present them to municipal councils. In addition, environmental studies are carried out in accordance with the approved monitoring programmes to ensure data reliability and support high-quality environmental decision-making.

They work on advanced solutions aimed at reducing air pollution, noise, and water and soil contamination. Their activities range from laboratory research and pilot testing to spatial modelling, consultancy, and the implementation of solutions, ensuring scientifically based and sustainable results.
