Many will remember the animated movie Up and its whimsical flying house lifted by hundreds of colorful balloons. Now, a flying house has become a reality over the skies of Lithuania, thanks to a collaborative project by VILNIUS TECH “LinkMenų fabrikas” and the Tele2 Inovacijų Biuras. This extraordinary house is lifted into the air – up to half a kilometer high – by a single hot air balloon.

Creating a flying house demanded the very best skills and ingenuity from the VILNIUS TECH “LinkMenų fabrikas” team. Unlike a traditional house designed to remain stationary, a flying house requires an entirely different construction approach. Conventional solutions simply wouldn’t work. For instance, when landing, standard windows would shatter due to the concentrated stress points created by the impact. To overcome such challenges, the team had to innovate extensively, balancing safety with weight to make the flying house both functional and secure.
