Green Vilnius

This lush installation, radiating the essence of a dense forest, is a map of Vilnius crafted using natural moss harvested from the wild. Designed to decorate the industrial-style spaces of VILNIUS TECH “LinkMenų fabrikas,” Green Vilnius introduces elements of untamed nature into the urban environment. The project also aims to highlight the importance of green spaces in cities and serve as a reminder of the vital role trees and nature play in urban life.

For the creation of Green Vilnius, living moss grown in forests was used. The moss was stabilized using glycerin and freezing techniques, enabling it to retain its natural appearance, texture, and elasticity for years without the need for water or sunlight. The stabilized moss was carefully laid and secured onto a metal frame. Finally, a laser-cut map of Vilnius city center was mounted onto the moss, creating a stunning fusion of nature and design.
