The “Portal”

“Portal” is a symbol of the city of the future and a bridge to a more open and united world – a place where we take the time to pause, explore unfamiliar cities, immerse ourselves in their cultures, and realize that we share more similarities than differences. This non-profit project was conceived by Benediktas Gylys, President of the Benediktas Gylys Foundation (BGF), in collaboration with the VILNIUS TECH “LinkMenų fabrikas” team, engineers, designers, and other creators. Together, they have developed a new way to teleport, in real-time, into the reality of another city and experience it up close.

The goal of the “Portal” project is to broaden our understanding of unity, extend the geographical boundaries of empathy, and promote the global mindset and citizenship necessary to address pressing global challenges. It emphasizes individual responsibility for our shared home Planet Earth. According to the project organizers, the desire to offer an alternative to divisive ideas and narratives is timeless and relevant every day, particularly in the context of recent events.
