Tribute to Prince

A sculpture dedicated to the legendary musician Prince is a creation by artist Tadas Maksimovas, brought to life by the VILNIUS TECH “LinkMenų fabrikas” team. This remarkable piece transforms with the weather: it turns purple in the rain and bright yellow when the sun shines and the water droplets dry. The sculpture’s design is no coincidence – it features the iconic symbol associated with Prince, instantly recognizable to his fans. The love symbol turns purple in the rain, evoking the imagery of “purple rain falling from the sky,” just like in Prince’s iconic 1984 hit Purple Rain.

The sculpture was crafted using large-scale 3D printing technology and later coated with hydrochromic paint to achieve its color-changing effect. The painting process posed the greatest challenges. The team had to evenly apply a base coat and then add a second layer of paint that becomes partially transparent when wet, revealing the vibrant purple beneath.
