Lithuanian Indoor Athletics Championship
28 February – 1 March 2026, KaunasMembers of the VILNIUS TECH athletics team participated in the Lithuanian Indoor Athletics Championship, held on 28 February and 1 March in Kaunas.
Tauras-Jokūbas Grincevičius won 3rd place in the 5000 m race walk event and improved his seasonal result.

Lithuanian Student Indoor Athletics Championship
18–19 February 2026, KaunasThe Lithuanian Student Indoor Athletics Championship took place on 18–19 February in Kaunas at the President Valdas Adamkus Athletics Arena, marking the official start of the 2026 Lithuanian student championship season. The event was held together with the Kaunas Open Youth and Adult Championship, which attracted a large number of athletes from across Lithuania.

LSU Open Student Championship for the Z Šveikauskas and A Stanislovaitis Cups
13 December 2025, KaunasVILNIUS TECH athletes competed in a range of events, from sprint and middle-distance running to race walking and relay races. Several athletes achieved prize-winning positions, while others represented the University with strong performances in a highly competitive environment.
Danielius Vasiliauskas AGAI delivered an excellent performance in the 60 m event, winning 2nd place. Another silver medal for VILNIUS TECH was won by Tauras Jokūbas Grincevičius FMF, who also placed 2nd in the 5000 m race walk, demonstrating endurance and strong technical ability.
Among the prize winners was Ema Marčiulionytė KIF, who finished 3rd in the 60 m event, and Ignas Zaveckas TIF, who secured 3rd place in the 3000 m event.
Close to the podium were Genardas Bunga AIF, who finished 4th in the 600 m event, and Tadas Mackevičius MF, who placed 4th in the 3000 m event. Also competing were Rugilė Švagždytė KIF, who finished 8th in the 1000 m event, and Martynas Čepulis SF and Emilis Gylys SF, who placed 9th and 10th respectively in the 3000 m event.
The highlight of the competition was the relay event, where the VILNIUS TECH team (Tadas Mackevičius, Martynas Čepulis, Ignas Zaveckas and Genardas Bunga) demonstrated strong teamwork, speed, and coordination, achieving 2nd place.

Lithuanian Student Cross Country Championship
5 October 2025, VilniusOn 5 October in Vilnius, at Saulėtekio Avenue, the Lithuanian Student Cross Country Championship took place. The event was organised by the Lithuanian Student Sports Association and hosted by Vilnius Gediminas Technical University VILNIUS TECH. Despite unfavourable weather conditions, students actively participated and demonstrated strong results.
The competition included four distances: women – 1000 m and 2000 m; men – 3000 m and 5000 m.
The VILNIUS TECH men’s team achieved 2nd place in the team ranking, while individual athletes also won several prize places:
Lukas Stankevičius (Faculty of Mechanics) – 1st place, 5000 m
Justinas Laurinaitis (Faculty of Environmental Engineering) – 2nd place, 3000 m
Danielius Jevensaper (Antanas Gustaitis Aviation Institute) – 3rd place, 3000 m
Meda Gasickaitė (Faculty of Creative Industries) – 3rd place, 2000 mOther VILNIUS TECH students also achieved good results:

Edgaras Budavičius – 28th place (3000 m)This championship has been organised since 1985 and is an important tradition in Lithuanian student sport. Two distances were dedicated to the memory of distinguished Lithuanian athletes:
2000 m women – Felicija Karoblienė Cup
5000 m men – Jonas Pipynė CupFelicija Karoblienė (Karaliūnaitė) was one of the most prominent Lithuanian runners. Born in 1936, she became Lithuanian champion eight times and improved the 800 m national record nine times. In 1963, she was awarded the title of Master of Sport. As a coach, she trained 12 Masters of Sport, including Olympic silver medallist Nijolė Sabaitė and world record holder Ana Ambrazienė. She received national awards for her contribution to sport.
Jonas Pipynė was a Lithuanian athlete and skier, born in 1935. He was recognised as one of the leading Lithuanian athletes of his time. He competed in the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, and his 1500 m record remained unbeaten for 30 years. He was also a national skiing champion and a winner of international youth competitions.
