The council of Vilnius Gediminas technical university announces a public competition for the position of Rector
The election of the Rector of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (hereinafter VILNIUS TECH) is organised in accordance with the Law on Higher Education and Research of the Republic of Lithuania and the Statute of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.
The VILNIUS TECH Council elects the Rector through a public competition in accordance with the description of the procedure for the election of the Rector of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. Researchers who meet the requirements established in the Law on Higher Education and Research of the Republic of Lithuania and in the Statute of VILNIUS TECH are invited to participate in the competition.
The candidate for the position of Rector must hold a scientific degree and an academic title, have managerial and leadership experience, and be proficient in Lithuanian, the official language of the Republic of Lithuania.
The Rector’s functions are specified in the VILNIUS TECH Statute.
The salary is 14 910, 00 EUR before taxes.
Applicants must submit copies of documents confirming their scientific degree and academic title, documents proving managerial and leadership experience, the completed questionnaire, the vision for VILNIUS TECH and proposed operational guidelines (maximum 20,000 characters), a statement of candidacy for the position of Rector, any other documents the applicant considers appropriate, and personal contact details.
The application documents must be submitted in person or by registered mail by 3:00 p.m. local time on 3 August 2026 to the VILNIUS TECH Document Management Office, Room 702, Saulėtekio al. 11, LT-10223 Vilnius, Lithuania.
Documents in Lithuanian must be placed in a sealed envelope. The envelope must indicate the applicant’s contact details: name, address and telephone number, as well as the text: “Public competition for the position of Rector of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University”.
