Objectives of the Institute of Mechanical Science
International Expertise
To maintain internationally recognised expertise in technology and social sciences, and to carry out long-term fundamental and applied research and experimental development in mechanical engineering, measurement engineering and related fields.
Innovation Development
In cooperation with business, government and society, to transfer scientific knowledge and innovation into technically and commercially valuable processes and devices that advance mechanical and measurement technologies, support environmental protection, and contribute to climate change mitigation.
Research Dissemination
To advance public understanding of science and contribute to building Lithuania’s economy based on innovation and knowledge.
Partnerships and Projects
To initiate and actively participate in national and international programme projects, and to expand cooperation with research and higher education institutions and researchers in Lithuania and abroad.

The Institute of Mechanical Science comprises three laboratories.
