The Laboratory investigates the operational reliability of vehicles, the efficiency of engines and alternative fuels, traffic safety and user behaviour, develops mechatronic systems, and addresses other challenges in transport engineering.

Practical training

To create conditions for high-quality practical training of students by using modern laboratory equipment and active learning methods.

To develop the research base in transport engineering and logistics by continuously updating equipment and workspaces in line with the latest scientific and industry trends.

Business services

The Transport Engineering and Logistics Laboratory provides services on a commercial basis to legal entities and individuals in Lithuania and abroad, carrying out engineering and applied research work. Service fees are set individually, depending on the scope and complexity of the work, in accordance with the procedures for economic activities established by VILNIUS TECH.

Vehicle operation and diagnostics

Power bench measurements: traction characteristics, fuel consumption, and emissions analysis
Brake and shock absorber efficiency testing
Diagnostics of electronic systems

Internal combustion engine research

Analysis of engine performance using different fuels (petrol, diesel, gas) and additives (fuel consumption, emissions, etc.)

Research on vehicle structural and operational materials

Quality testing of oils, fuels, and lubricants
Research on metallic and composite structural materials

Hydraulic and pneumatic systems of vehicles, pipeline transport

Diagnostics and testing of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and their components
Measurement of operating parameters, diagnostics, and computer modelling of pipeline transport systems

Laboratory Units

The Transport Engineering and Logistics Laboratory consists of 12 units.

Laboratory of Vehicle Operation and Maintenance

The technical systems and characteristics of cars and other vehicles are studied.

Laboratory of Hydraulic, Pneumatic Systems and Pipeline Transport

Mechatronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic vehicle systems and pipeline transport equipment are studied.

Laboratory of Vehicles Prototyping

Vehicles and their systems are designed, manufactured, and studied.

Students Technical Creativity Workshop

A space for students and school pupils to carry out creative projects.

Laboratory of Vehicle Chassis and Transmissions

Vehicle chassis and transmissions are studied, including their interaction with different road surfaces.

Laboratory of Traffic Safety

Various traffic scenarios involving vehicles and other road users are modelled and studied.

Laboratory of Transport Systems Control

The training covers the operation of micromobility vehicles, bridge and tower cranes, cargo handling processes, and transport safety systems.

Laboratory of Vehicle Electric Drives

Electrical drives and auxiliary systems of road vehicles and railway rolling stock are studied and controlled.

Laboratory of Transport Systems Diagnostics

Various diagnostic equipment is used, suitable not only for transport system diagnostics.

Laboratory of Vehicles Electric Equipment

Automotive electrical systems and their auxiliary systems are studied and controlled.

Laboratory of Vehicle Materials

Structural materials used in vehicles are studied, with a particular focus on operational materials (fuels, lubricants, coolants) and their properties.

Laboratory of Computer Modelling of Vehicles and Systems

Various software is used to model vehicles and their systems, analyse traffic flows, monitor and manage freight transport processes, generate travel documents, and control transport operations.

Laboratory Staff

The staff of the Transport Engineering and Logistics Laboratory are experts in transport engineering (road and railway vehicles, their electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and prototypes, pipeline transport, and traffic safety), logistics, and related fields. They educate transport engineering and logistics specialists who are able to apply the knowledge gained during their studies to the development of the transport and logistics sector in Lithuania.
