This lecture examines how disinformation can evolve into complex influence operations where foreign narratives exploit domestic political divisions and converge with local interests and networks in a strategically located Southeast Asian country, the Philippines.
Drawing on original reporting by journalists from a leading news organization, it explores China- and Russia-linked campaigns, the role of influencers and commercial actors, and how the country’s media and civil society are responding.
