Have an innovative idea? MITA invites startups to apply for the “TechHub” pre-accelerator

September 16, 2021

The Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA) invites startup teams and those with innovative ideas to register for the fourth cohort of the “TechHub” pre-accelerator. During the program selected startups will participate in a three-month training course, in which they will develop their ideas, meet investors and business angels, gain business development knowledge, find new team members and receive services worth 25,000 Eur. The application process will end in September 26th.

“Startups participating in this pre-accelerator can self-evaluate and improve their ideas without any risk. Even if the initial idea does not work during the program, ideas are changed with the help of personal mentors, and the acquired business development knowledge, established contacts with the startup community and investors will definitely be useful for participants in any future activities,” says Gintarė Narakienė, “TechHub” project manager.

40 teams in various fields have already completed the program, another 20 are currently participating. The program so far brought together more than 150 professionals from various fields, they are led through the program by 9 mentors, a large team of partners, innovation experts and investors.

As in previous “TechHub” pre-accelerator cohorts, the program contains a total of twelve training topics. Startups will refine the target customer, perform market and competitor analysis, create market entry strategy, learn about business and product development, positioning, branding, team building, intellectual property, investing.

Successful graduates will have the opportunity to present themselves to the investors at the final “Demo Day” event. In addition, the best performing teams will be awarded valuable prizes – tickets to accelerators abroad and trips to meetings with partners or events in the EU countries.

Startups (small companies with high and innovation-based business development potential, operating for up to 5 years) as well as teams with an innovative idea intending to register a company during the pre-accelerator can apply for participation. Each applicant team will have to provide information about the startup, team and service (product). The received applications will be evaluated and the participants will be selected by the project experts.

You can also find out more about the program at the Pre-accelerator Info Day Event, during which the program manager dr. Gediminas Rumšas will present the content of the program in more detail, talk about the application process, benefits, mentors and prizes. During the event, all questions will also be answered by participants from previous cohorts.

Registration is open until September 26th. The pre-accelerator will start in October 25. Depending on the epidemiological situation, the program might be conducted remotely, in Lithuanian or English, depending on the needs of the selected teams.

Prof. Dr. Romualdas Kliukas elected as rector of VILNIUS TECH
Prof. Dr. Romualdas Kliukas has been re-elected for a second term as the Rector of VILNIUS TECH. Over the past five years, VILNIUS TECH has significantly strengthened its position in the fields of research, studies, and management. This was driven by substantial state support for research institutions, alongside the potential and unity of the university community. Having led the university since November 2021, Prof. Kliukas thanked the community for its trust and encouraged everyone to continue fostering ideas, initiatives, critical thinking, and innovation. "As the world and the country change, the university's goals are becoming increasingly ambitious. We will strive to become a prestigious European technical university that takes responsibility for creating new solutions to overcome pressing global challenges. Every tangible change implemented in studies, research, or management will stem from our collaboration and connectivity. It is essential that everyone feels seen, valued, and empowered to participate, build connections, share their knowledge, and contribute to the future of the university," said Prof. Dr. Kliukas. The re-elected Rector’s priorities include focusing on international-level study quality, training specialists who create high added value, expanding the competence centers established between 2024 and 2026, and maturing international partnerships, talent development initiatives, and research information systems. Through these efforts, the university aims to achieve greater international competitiveness, increase the impact of research results, and foster closer interaction between research, business, and the public sector. The key focus remains on an effective research and study management system, strengthening the community, and ensuring state-of-the-art research and study infrastructure. Prof. Dr. Artūras Jukna was the other candidate running for the position of VILNIUS TECH Rector in this election. The Rector was elected through an open competition by the Council of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, headed by Chairman Dainius Dundulis. According to the university's statute, the Rector is elected for a five-year term; therefore, the results of this election will shape the university's strategic directions, priorities, and decisions until 2031.
