At the end of June of this year, the impact factors of international scientific journals were published. The international scientific journal "TRANSPORT" published by the Faculty of Transport Engineering of VILNIUS TECH was positively evaluated and ranked higher than before. According to Clarivate Analytics Corporation's Web of Science database, the journal rose from the Q4 quartile to the Q3 (category: Transportation Science and Technology). This year, the category of Transportation Science and Technology included more scientific journals than before (for example, there were 31 scientific journals in 2022 and 72 scientific journals in 2023), so the ranking of the journal published by the faculty increased from 31/40 (Q4) to 50/72 (Q3). According to Elsevier's Scopus database, the journal's ranking remained unchanged and remained in the Q2 quartile (categories: Automotive Engineering and Mechanical Engineering), at 37/115 and 268/631, respectively.
According to the Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal "TRANSPORT", prof. dr. Olegas Prentkovskis, the journal has its own traditions, as it has been published for 39 years and it is one of the oldest scientific journals published by VILNIUS TECH. The magazine has its own traditions, it publishes original scientific and review articles on transport engineering, transport safety traffic, transport management and business, transport logistics and economy and other topics. „We have a strong international editorial board, it connects not only editors, but also thematic editors. The magazine can also boast of the internationality of the authors – most of the articles are published by foreign researchers. For consecutive years, the journal was evaluated by the International Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE – Committee on Publication Ethics) and in 2020 we were the first of the magazines published by VILNIUS TECH to be granted honorary membership – the magazine was included in the COPE database.“ – says the Editor-in-Chief prof. dr. Olegas Prentkovskis.
Another international scientific journal of the faculty "AVIATION", published together with the VILNIUS TECH Antanas Gustaitis Aviation Institute, was previously included in the Web of Science database of the Clarivate Analytics Corporation, but for the first time it is included in the Q3 quartile (category: Engineering, Aerospace) and out of 52 magazines listed in the same category, "AVIATION" is ranked 38th. Elsevier's Scopus database has previously included this journal and is currently in the Q3 quartile (category: Aerospace Engineering).
The Editor-in-Chief of this journal is the professor of the Department of Mobile Machines and Railways of the Faculty of Transport Engineering dr. Gintautas Bureika, and the Managing Editor is associate professor of the Department of Mobile Machinery and Railways dr. Mykola Karpenko.
According to dr. Mykola Karpenko, the scientific journal "AVIATION" stands as a fully open-access platform for exchanging ideas among researchers from around the globe, spanning from America and Europe to Asia and beyond, even reaching into Space. Covering topics from aviation history to modern aerospace technology, from aircraft and drones to airport infrastructure, and from civil to military flying applications, "AVIATION" journal provides a diverse and comprehensive field of knowledge for the readers. „We are proud to announce that the journal is currently one of the top publication in the Aerospace Engineering category in Eastern Europe. Achieving a Q3 ranking in the Web of Science categories is just the beginning of our ambitious journey towards reaching Q1. The Editorial Board is dedicated to this goal, and we believe that within a few years, the journal will be recognized as one of the leading publications in the aerospace engineering field“ – says the Managing Editor dr. Mykola Karpenko.
We are grateful to the editorial boards of both scientific journals, reviewers, VILNIUS TECH Library staff and everyone who contributes to the publication of the journals, and of course all the authors of the articles.
