The dissertation was defended at the public meeting of the Dissertation Defense Council of the Scientific Field of Environmental Engineering at the SRA – I Hall of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University at 9 a.m. on 7 June 2024.
The dissertation investigates multilayer constructions that use devulcanized rubber granules. The main object of the research is panels made of recycled rubber granules and sound-insulating structures created using them. The dissertation aims to create an efficient construction to reduce device noise, the construction of which uses devulcanized rubber granule panels. The work solves several tasks related to the creation of rubber granule panels and the research of their physical and acoustic properties, experimental studies of constructions with a rubber granule panel, the theoretical research of structures based on the transfer matrix method, and the intended design and evaluation of the noise reduction efficiency of the sound-insulating enclosure. The dissertation consists of an introduction, three chapters, general conclusions, references, and a list of the author’s publications on the topic of the dissertation. The introductory chapter describes the research problem, the relevance of the work, describes the research object, distinguishes the tasks of the work, formulates the purpose and tasks, indicates the research methodology, the scientific novelty, and the practical significance of the work results, and presents the defended statements. The introduction closes with lists of the author’s publications and presentations on the topic of the dissertation. The first chapter examines the possibilities of using rubber granules, describes methods of devulcanization of rubber granules, and carries out the analysis of experimental theoretical studies of multilayer constructions. The second chapter presents methods of sample preparation, experimental insertion loss, sound absorption and sound transmission loss studies, theoretical transmission matrix method, and numerical sound reduction modeling. The third chapter presents the results of experimental studies and their analysis for the evaluation of the sound reduction efficiency of rubber granule panels and constructions with rubber granules and the development of a sound-insulating enclosure. Four scientific articles have been published on the dissertation topic: three in scientific journals included in the Clarivate Analytics Web of Science list and one in conference proceedings. One patent of the Republic of Lithuania was received. Four conference presentations were made on the topic of the dissertation at conferences in Lithuania and abroad.
