| Tomas Mitkus "The Aesthetics of Asexual Nudity, Eroticism, and Pornography in 2D Animation" ("Aseksualaus nuogumo, erotikos ir pornografijos estetika 2D animacijoje") The book is written in Lithuanian. This monograph presents a study of aesthetics aimed at understanding how the depiction of explicit nudity can be effectively realized in animated works. It is important to highlight that the publication draws upon the most recent global research, insights, and conceptual frameworks related to the aesthetics of nudity in animation. This focus emerges from the observation that, within Western cultural contexts, explicit nudity in animation remains at the periphery of social acceptability, leading both creators and scholars to systematically avoid the subject. Nevertheless, the past decade has seen a notable rise in animation content created specifically for adult audiences, compelling both academic and industry communities to confront and engage with this phenomenon. The growing visibility of adult-themed animation invites a re-evaluation of how explicit nudity might serve as a narrative device—one capable of enhancing storytelling in ways that other media cannot replicate as effectively. Accordingly, the central aim of this monograph is to explore how creators can employ the representation of explicit nudity in conveying diverse and compelling narratives intended for mature audiences. eBook edition >>> * VILNIUS TECH extends complimentary access to its entire library of e-books to members within the university community.
