On the 31st of January, the Faculty of Transport Engineering hosted a discussion focused on the characteristics of the transport system in Vilnius. The discussion brought together researchers and practitioners with significant experience in planning, organizing, and managing transport flows in the capital city.
The following individuals participated in the discussion:

- Aleksej Apanovič, Head of the Traffic Management Center
- Arnas Misiūnas, Head of Public Transport Organization (alumni of our faculty)
- Faculty members and researchers from the Faculty of Transport Engineering
- Representatives from the Lithuanian transport sector from Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, and other cities.
The event analyzed the current situation of the transport system in Vilnius, highlighting the challenges of its development and long-term goals. Attention was given to the most congested areas of the city, and discussions were held on potential solutions that could improve the situation and make commuting in Vilnius much faster. Participants exchanged ideas on more efficient traffic management, enhancing public transport services, developing modern infrastructure, and other relevant topics.
According to the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Olegas Prentkovskis, "The discussions that emerged during the event will encourage collaboration between the academic community and practitioners, with the goal of creating a more sustainable and efficient transport network in Vilnius (and other areas), focusing on modern vehicles, new routes, possibly new types of transport, infrastructure, and more."
