The 15th International Scientific Conference “Business and Management 2025” Took Place

This year, on May 15–16, the Faculty of Business Management of VILNIUS TECH organised the 15th International Scientific Conference “Business and Management 2025”. The event was held in a hybrid format, though most participants attended Vilnius in person. It is worth noting that the total number of participants reached 274, with 200 visiting VILNIUS TECH. The conference brought together representatives from 31 countries, including the USA, Finland, Kenya, Portugal, Taiwan and many others. The event also welcomed long-standing participants from institutions such as EKA University of Applied Sciences (Latvia), Transilvania University of Brașov (Romania), the University of Pretoria (South Africa), among others.
 

The conference was officially opened by Prof Dr Viktorija Skvarciany, Vice-Dean for Research and Project Development of the Faculty of Business Management. A welcome speech was delivered by Prof Dr Vida Davidavičienė, the Dean of the Faculty, who greeted the guests and shared memories from previous conferences (video). The opening was followed by a plenary session featuring three keynote speeches. Prof Dr Tsai-Chi Kuo, representing National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taiwan), delivered the first presentation, which discussed insights on how artificial intelligence can contribute to he achievement of sustainable development goals. The second speech was given by the representative of VILNIUS TECH, Prof Dr Indrė Lapinskaitė, who also focused on sustainability, approaching it from an environmental, social and governance (ESG) perspective. The final presentation was delivered by Dr Ferhat Çitak from Hitit University (Turkey), who discussed the impact of policy uncertainty in the United States on environmental degradation, whether it contributes to or mitigates it.
 

Following the plenary session, participants continued their work in eight parallel sections. Notably, two of the sessions were dedicated to Horizon Europe projects coordinated by the Faculty of Business Management of VILNIUS TECH (X-HuLog4.0 and Cluster-Inn). The discussions across the sections addressed a wide range of pressing topics, including sustainable economic development, financial management, and contemporary challenges in management and business. Participants explored not only theoretical issues but also the practical challenges faced by organisations in a dynamic business environment. In addition, research results were presented that could contribute to more effective decision-making and the development of long-term strategic solutions.

On 17 June, the participants of the Summer Camp for Librarians visited the VILNIUS TECH Library. The Library Director, Ingrida Kasperaitienė, together with Vice Directors Vaida Plauškaitė and Karolina Banevičienė, presented the library’s digital solutions for academic activities — the systems being developed for research, publishing, and services. The Summer Camp for Librarians is organized by the Lithuanian Librarians’ Association (LBD) and the Faculty of Communication of Vilnius University. The VILNIUS TECH Library is one of the camp’s partners.

Guests from the University of Lodz visited the Faculty of Business Management at VILNIUS TECH
Last week, the Faculty of Business Management at VILNIUS TECH welcomed colleagues from the University of Lodz, Poland: Dr Iwona Dorota Czechowska, Head of the Department of Central Banking and Financial Intermediation, and Dr Marta Paduszyńska. During the meeting with the Dean of the Faculty, Professor Vida Davidavičienė, and the faculty management team, the participants discussed prospects for further academic cooperation, including opportunities for joint research projects, participation in international conferences, joint publications, and the expansion of academic mobility. The Polish colleagues also learned more about the activities of the Department of Economics Engineering, its research areas, study programmes, and potential opportunities for future collaboration. Such meetings are an important part of developing international academic partnerships. They encourage the exchange of experience, generate new ideas for joint research, and strengthen cooperation between universities. We sincerely thank our colleagues from the University of Lodz for the constructive dialogue and their interest in further cooperation.
