Over the weekend, the VILNIUS TECH Students Representation (SA) presidential election took place, in which Ervin Borkovski, a third-year Software Engineering student from the Faculty of Fundamental Sciences (FMF), was elected as the new president. The new president has set ambitious goals and aims to strengthen the university and its community in various fields.
"My vision is an academic community open to new ideas and initiatives, united in addressing all challenges and striving for breakthroughs in studies and science," says the new SA president.
Aiming to Improve Study Quality
Upon assuming the SA presidency, E. Borkovski and his team plan to thoroughly review all study programs and initiate a working group focused on increasing the flexibility of university studies.
"We observe a significant difference between study programs in English and Lithuanian, so we plan to identify the root causes and seek possible solutions," states E. Borkovski.
Plans to Continue Previous Efforts and Reforms
Another goal of the new SA president is to amplify the student voice:
"We are pleased that the student voice is heard and valued in various areas of the university, but we see room for improvement. We want to continue the efforts of the former SA president and her team by implementing a dormitory student representation model and strengthening representation for international students. We also plan reforms that will involve not only academic group leaders but also student representatives in various university bodies."
More Communication to Strengthen the Community
E. Borkovski and his team are determined to ensure that the university progresses successfully, planning to improve communication channels with students, publicize university news and SA positions, share newsletters, and enhance student feedback on the study process. The team also intends to organize initiatives that strengthen the academic community and revive the once-popular student event, "Gediminas Days."
