December 3, 2015, is the opening date of the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) Creativity and Innovation Centre "LinkMenų fabrikas". It is the first centre of its kind in Lithuania for developing students‘ creativity. "The arts, engineering, management, studies, science, business – these are the main poles, on which the ‘‘factory‘‘ is being built‘‘– said Adas Meškėnas, the Director of  "LinkMenų fabrikas", during the opening ceremony of the new centre.

According to him, they want to express a modern approach to the study process by "LinkMenų fabrikas": "In this centre, we want to provide an opportunity for students to learn by creating, developing and maturing as well as implementing their ideas into practice. Young people have many innovative ideas, but often they simply lack space for maturing them and technical measures or assistance for implementing them. "The "LinkMenų fabrikas" is just the right place to do that".

A. Meškėnas told about 1100 sq. m. area with the established forty-five shops, offices, bars, for a team of developers, entrepreneurs, inventors, working in different areas, for nurturing and developing together the interdisciplinary ideas from the very beginning to the end, creating real products and services.

VGTU Rector Alfonsas Daniūnas, concluding his greeting speech, welcomed everybody to "LinkMenų fabrikas": "When you drive down the Geležinio vilko street, and see the "LinkMenų fabrikas", please bear in mind, that good ideas are born here. If you have your own idea – please come here and implement it," – the Rector expressed the idea that the "factory" will be open to everybody.

Establishing the first creative space of such kind, VGTU co-operated with Edinburgh Napier University. This partnership has provided the opportunity to learn from the real examples and to use the best experience of foreign universities in Lithuania. VGTU and the European Union financed the establishment of "LinkMenų fabrikas" infrastructure by the structural funds, the value of the project being 1 448 100 Eur.

Efrei Study Mission 2026 at VILNIUS TECH: A Week Dedicated to Cybersecurity and Practical Experience
The collaboration between VILNIUS TECH and Efrei higher education institutions continues to strengthen international academic cooperation. From April 20–24, 2026, VILNIUS TECH hosted a 5-day study mission for students from Efrei (France), focused on cybersecurity, hands-on learning, and gaining insight into real industry processes. On April 20 (Monday), the programme began with a visit to Vinted. Students had the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into one of the leading technology companies in Lithuania and its operational model. Later, they attended an introductory session about VILNIUS TECH and mobility opportunities at the university, after which they began Threat Hunting and Information Security Management sessions at the Faculty of Fundamental Sciences. Starting with an introduction to digital threats, students engaged in practical threat intelligence activities, applying modern methods and building their knowledge based on real-world practices observed during the company visit. On April 21 (Tuesday), the programme continued with a focus on Threat Hunting and Information Security Management. Students further developed their practical skills by analysing real security scenarios and management principles. Working in teams and using real data, they simulated situations and explored ways to respond to various targeted cyberattacks. From April 22–24 (Wednesday–Friday), students participated in hands-on Digital Forensics workshops. During these sessions, they worked with digital investigation methods, analysed data, and explored the process of investigating cyber incidents. Throughout the intensive course, students used technical tools and software applied by law enforcement institutions, while practical tasks helped them better understand how much data we generate and carry in our everyday devices. This study mission provided Efrei students with the opportunity to combine academic knowledge with practical experience, work in an international environment, and gain a deeper understanding of how cybersecurity is applied in real-world contexts, as well as how university contributes to strengthening the cybersecurity ecosystem. Long-term cooperation with Efrei, along with continuously raising the bar, fosters the ongoing improvement of programme quality and enables the implementation of increasingly strong and content-rich study missions each year. This intensive and engaging course is an important and valued part of the collaboration between VILNIUS TECH and Efrei.
