Information for Free Movers
1. General information
International students who wish to study at VILNIUS TECH independently, without participating in a specific exchange programme, may apply as Free Movers (Visiting Students). This option allows students to study at the host university for one or two semesters at their own expense.
To be eligible, applicants must have completed at least one academic year at their home university, before beginning their studies at VILNIUS TECH. They must also maintain their student status at their home university throughout their entire period of study abroad.
Applicants may apply as Free Movers if:
- Their home university has an inter-institutional agreement with VILNIUS TECH;
- They remain enrolled at their home university for the entire study period.
2. Tuition Fees
Free Movers are required to pay tuition fees for their studies at VILNIUS TECH. The total fee depends on the number of ECTS credits selected and the relevant field and level of study (Bachelor’s or Master’s).
- Tuition fees paid upon arrival;
- Fees are the same for EU and non-EU citizens;
- Students must select between 20 and 35 ECTS credits per semester.
3. Courses Available for Free Movers
The list of courses available to exchange and Free Mover students for the 2026/2027 academic year can be found here.
Students should select their preferred courses as part of the application process. These selections will later form their Learning Agreement.
4. Application Procedure
Students interested in applying as Free Movers should contact the International Relations Office at incoming@vilniustech.lt to receive a link to the online application form.
Applicants must complete the application through the Mobility-Online platform by providing the required information, selecting courses for their study plan, uploading the necessary documents, and submitting the application.
Application Deadlines
- Autumn semester or full academic year: May 15
- Spring semester: November 15
❗Applicants are encouraged to prepare their documents and submit their applications before the relevant deadline.
5. Before Arrival

Free Movers are responsible for covering all expenses associated with their stay in Lithuania, including:
- Travel costs;
- Accommodation;
- Health and travel insurance;
- Any other costs related to their stay.
6. During the Studies
Free Movers have access to the facilities and services provided by VILNIUS TECH, just like other exchange and degree-seeking students.
They are also invited to participate in the university’s Orientation Week, where they can receive important practical information and guidance to help them settle into university life.

7. At the End of the Studies
Upon completing their studies at VILNIUS TECH, Free Movers receive an official Transcript of Records documenting the courses they have completed and their academic results.
Please note that participation in the programme does not lead to the award of a degree or diploma from VILNIUS TECH.
