Four free UPLIFT video lessons on immersive tourism are now online
The Erasmus+ project UPLIFT has published four free online video lessons on how digital and interactive tools can be used in literary and film tourism. The lessons are available at https://uplifttourism.eu/video-lessons/ and were produced under the work package on immersive workshops, led by VILNIUS TECH. Each lesson distils one of the four UPLIFT workshops held in Iceland, Lithuania, Ireland and Slovenia. Lesson 1 – Marketing, Branding & Goals – is based on the VILNIUS TECH workshop held at LinkMenų fabrikas in April and shows how to connect an immersive experience to a brand, a target audience and clear objectives. Lesson 2 introduces VR, AR and XR in tourism and explains how to choose a technology that serves the story rather than the other way round. Lesson 3 is a step-by-step guide to creating a simple VR experience on a budget using 360° photography, AI and free or low-cost tools. Lesson 4 explores creative uses of QR codes to link physical places with video, audio and story content. The lessons are aimed at small and medium-sized tourism businesses, tourism educators and students, guides and destination organisations. No prior technical knowledge is needed, and the lessons can be followed in sequence or individually. On 3 September, VILNIUS TECH presented the lessons and the results of the UPLIFT workshop programme at a launch event in the Faux Real virtual production studio at LinkMenų fabrikas.
