The latest CiteScore source citation indicator values are available on Scopus

June 13, 2024
We are pleased to inform that the latest 2023 values of the CiteScore metrics are already available on Scopus database (all data and indicators of all Scopus indexed periodical sources are freely accessible).

CiteScore values are indicated on the webpages of many journals and allows to objectively evaluate the quality of a publishing source.

Major Highlights of CiteScore 2023 Release:

  • Expanded Coverage: CiteScore 2023 includes almost 30,000 active titles, with over 2,200 sources receiving their first CiteScore values. This broader coverage ensures a more complete dataset for evaluating journal impact.
  • More Open Access Titles: The release includes almost 7,000 Open Access titles, with 52 of them ranking #1 in their respective categories. This highlights the growing importance of Open Access research publishing.
  • High Quality Titles: CiteScore 2023 identifies over 11,000 sources which have not received Journal Impact Factor (JIF) in 2022. Among them, over 400 journals are highly ranked in their respective areas, placing them in the top 10%.
  • Global Representation: over one fifth of CiteScore rated journals are non-English sources, publishing publications in over 50 languages, providing a global perspective on research impact.
More information about the 2023 CiteScore edition can be found in the Elsevier’s blog-post.

Although by its meaning and calculation principle CiteScore indicator is relatively similar to a well-known Journal Impact Factor (JIF), the main CiteScore advantage over JIF is that CiteScore help you measure the citation impact not only for journals, but also for book series, conference proceedings and trade journals.

The principle of the CiteScore calculation is presented below:

Important! Both CiteScore and JIF indicators are based on the average values describing the quality of the whole source (journal) and not of an individual publication published in it.
