The Fire and Rescue Department informs that during the largest mobilization system testing exercise, “Vyčio skliautas 2026”, the Public Warning and Information System will be tested nationwide. The siren test will take place tomorrow (September 29) starting at 11:52 a.m. During the test, the audio signal “Test of the Warning System” (lt. Perspėjimo sistemos patikrinimas) will be activated.
The sirens will sound for 3 minutes (from 11:52 a.m. to 11:55 a.m.). Once they stop, at 11:55 a.m., information and recommendations will be broadcasted via the Lithuanian National Radio and Television, as well as regional and local radio stations.
As part of the test, short warning messages will also be sent to residents’ mobile phones. Their transmission will begin simultaneously with the activation of the sirens at 11:52 a.m. and will continue until 12:00 p.m. (noon).
These messages will be sent to all mobile network users, but they will only be received by phones that have the emergency alert reception function enabled. More information on how to configure your phone is available on the Lithuanian emergency preparedness website lt72.lt.
Upon hearing the sirens, residents should immediately turn on the radio or television, listen to the broadcasted information, and follow the provided recommendations.
In the event of a looming or actual emergency, the country’s residents are warned via sirens or mobile phone alerts, and, if necessary, via mobile sound systems or messengers. They are also kept informed through radio and television.
This test is being conducted as part of the “Vyčio skliautas 2026” exercise. The implementation of the exercise is coordinated by the National Crisis Management Centre and the Mobilisation and Civil Resistance Department under the Ministry of National Defence.
