Brief Laboratory History

Areas of Activity

The Laboratory of Geotechnics focuses on modelling the physical and mechanical properties of soils, analysing geotechnical structures, and developing and applying innovative geotechnical technologies.

The laboratory’s research activities include the following areas:

  • Analysis and Assessment of Soil Microstructural and Macrostructural Properties
  • Investigation and Modelling of Stress–Strain Behaviour
  • Analysis of Foundation and Geotechnical Structure Behaviour
  • Development of Innovative Geotechnical Technologies and Research Methods
  • Integration of Experimental and Numerical Methods in Geotechnical Design

Research Equipment

The laboratory is equipped with modern equipment for testing the physical and mechanical properties of soils. This infrastructure enables the investigation of soil microstructure, deformation properties, and strength parameters under various conditions.

  • Oedometer and Direct Shear Testing Equipment
  • Fully Automated Triaxial Testing Systems (Static and Cyclic Tests)
  • Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)

  • Data Acquisition and Analysis Systems
  • Finite Element Software
