On September 8–11, representatives of VILNIUS TECH attended the European Association for International Education (EAIE) Conference and Exhibition “EAIE 2026” in Glasgow, Scotland. This was the largest conference in EAIE history, bringing together over 7,300 participants from more than 107 countries.
This year’s conference theme, “The Rhythm of Revolution”, reflected the rapid changes and innovations in international higher education, inviting education experts to adapt to the new rhythm of the future.
The program featured over 240 sessions and workshops. These primarily focused on the perspectives and innovations of international higher education: the strategic management of higher education, the future of the “Erasmus+” and “Horizon Europe” programs, the enhancement of student mobility, sustainability in education, global partnerships, and social responsibility.
The event included discussions on artificial intelligence and education policy, as well as the presentation of the European Commission’s joint European degree label guidelines. One of the major highlights of the conference was the debate on equality in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Meanwhile, at the exhibition, VILNIUS TECH representatives presented the university’s English-taught study programs, double degree programs (DDP), the list of modules offered to exchange students, academic staff mobility opportunities, and possibilities for engaging in joint projects.
During meetings with other universities, VILNIUS TECH representatives discussed partnership opportunities, double degree programs, the expansion of cooperation, student scholarships, and internships abroad.
“By participating in the ‘EAIE 2026’ conference, we successfully fulfilled VILNIUS TECH’s commitment to internationalization and co-creation, aimed at enriching higher education experiences and building a sustainable future. We accomplished highly productive and inspiring work: over these few days, we strengthened existing partnerships and established numerous important contacts. We are particularly pleased with the promising discussions held with the Technical University of Denmark, the Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola (USIL) in Peru, and the EPITA School of Engineering and Computer Science in France.
We are also delighted by the UK’s return to the ‘Erasmus+’ academic mobility program from 2027. Consequently, we have renewed our ties with Abertay University and The Glasgow School of Art in Scotland, which opens up new opportunities for joint projects as well as student and staff exchanges,” says Aleksandra Sokolova, Director of the International Relations Office at VILNIUS TECH.
The representatives also met with colleagues from the ATHENA European University Alliance to discuss joint projects and initiatives, as well as with partners from the University of Primorska (Slovenia) to expand double degree programs and areas of cooperation.
With the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) in Brazil, they discussed opportunities for the mobility of incoming researchers and doctoral students, supported by CAPES (the Brazilian Federal Agency under the Ministry of Education). With the Technical University of Central Hesse (THM) in Germany, they explored the possibility for VILNIUS TECH students to undertake paid internships at German companies.
Particularly important was the meeting with VILNIUS TECH’s strategic partner—the National Taipei University of Technology (Taipei Tech, Taiwan)—with whom concrete cooperation results have already been achieved through joint scientific research “seed money” projects.
