Introducing the new VILNIUS TECH electronic publication, „Mechanizmų ir mašinų teorija. Praktinė laboratorinių darbų knyga“ (“Theory of Mechanisms and Machines: A Practical Laboratory Workbook”). The publication was prepared by Prof. Dr Vytautas Turla, Assoc. Prof. Dr Igor Iljin, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nikolaj Šešok, Assoc. Prof. Dr Rimantas Stonkus, and Dr Sigitas Petkevičius of the Department of Mechatronics, Robotics and Digital Manufacturing, Faculty of Mechanics. This practical laboratory workbook is intended for first-cycle students studying Mechanical Engineering programmes at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH). It presents a series of laboratory assignments on the theory of mechanisms and machines. The publication covers the theoretical foundations, from basic concepts to the structure of mechanisms, as well as the analysis, evaluation, and assessment of their operation and suitability. The mechanisms and their structures are illustrated with technical drawings and diagrams, helping students better understand the theoretical material and the processes taking place within mechanisms. The workbook is designed not only to deepen students’ theoretical knowledge but also to develop their practical skills. Students’ readiness to perform each laboratory assignment is assessed through tests available in the Moodle system. The publication may also be useful for students studying other mechanical engineering modules, as well as for design engineers and professionals involved in the development of new equipment. Electronic book: >>>VILNIUS TECH institutional users can access and read electronic books free of charge when connected to the university’s computer network. When accessing the resources from outside the university, users can connect to the institutional network via VPN. To read electronic books offline, users need to install the IPC Reader Offline application and, while connected to the institutional network, download the desired books to the reader. The downloaded books can then be accessed without an internet connection. More electronic books published by VILNIUS TECH are available at ebooks.vilniustech.lt.

The VILNIUS TECH Library offers a wide range of information resources to support study and research. Its extensive collection of print and electronic resources is tailored to the needs of different fields of study and research. These resources enable members of the VILNIUS TECH community to access the latest scholarly information quickly and conveniently, both on campus and remotely. The Library continuously expands its collections to ensure access to reliable, high-quality, and up-to-date information for study, research, and professional development. The Library’s print collection includes textbooks, scholarly monographs, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, periodicals, and other information resources. These materials support users in deepening their knowledge, preparing for lectures, and completing academic and research assignments. Even more opportunities are available through the Library’s electronic resources, including e-books, journals, research evaluation and statistical data, video resources, and more. The Library’s Subject Information section provides a curated selection of electronic resources organised by academic field and subject area, making it easier to find relevant information for specific study and research needs. The Trial Databases section provides information about electronic resources that are not currently subscribed to by VILNIUS TECH but are temporarily made available by publishers for evaluation. This section is regularly updated to reflect the databases and resources currently available for trial access. All Library resources can be searched through a single access point — the VILNIUS TECH Virtual Library. It enables users to search across the Library’s collections, the LST Standards Catalogue, subscribed databases, and open-access electronic resources. The Virtual Library can be accessed from any computer with an internet connection. Users accessing resources from outside the VILNIUS TECH network must use the VPN service to access the full text of electronic publications. For secure VPN access, two-factor authentication is also required. Users can verify their connection through a mobile authentication application or by phone call. Web on Science (Clarivate Analytics) – a bibliographic database designed for research evaluation, literature searches, and journal selection for publication. Web of Science Research Assistant – a tool powered by generative artificial intelligence (AI). Wiley Online Library – more than 1,300 journals covering various fields of science. Writefull – an English-language editing tool that corrects grammar, spelling, and punctuation and specializes in terminology used in academic writing, making it a useful assistant when writing a research paper or thesis. Important: Some databases provide access to only part of their content, with subscriptions covering specific collections of e-books or journals. The description of each database provides information about which publications or information are available to the VILNIUS TECH community. Information from licensed databases may be copied (downloaded to a computer or printed) only for personal academic purposes and only in small quantities. It is strictly prohibited to provide such information to third parties, upload it to the intranet, or use it for commercial purposes. The transfer of login credentials to third parties is also strictly prohibited. In Lithuania, copyright is protected by the Law on Copyright and Related Rights of the Republic of Lithuania.

We invite you to visit the painting exhibition "Stories of Travel" by Angelija Eidukienė, on display in Gallery A located in the VILNIUS TECH Library (Saulėtekio al. 14).  About the artist: “I was born in Latvia into a Lithuanian family. I inherited my inclination toward art from my father, who was also a painter, draftsman, and woodcarver. A creative environment surrounded me not only at home but also at school, where I attended art classes and participated in various painting competitions. After graduating from school, I studied fashion design, but I always felt a passion for painting and interior design, which led me to continue my studies. From 1999 to 2003, I studied at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2003. In 2007, I obtained a Master’s degree in Fine Arts. I continuously share my work with audiences through solo exhibitions and by participating in group exhibitions alongside other painters. In addition to painting, I have been designing private interiors for more than twenty years. Most of my interiors are created in a minimalist contemporary style, although I have also designed numerous classical and modern-classical spaces. Currently, I create and work in Kaunas, in the Art and Design Studio that I founded. I live and paint surrounded by nature near Rumšiškės,” A. Eidukienė says in her self-introduction.   About the exhibition: “This exhibition is a collection of my travel stories, told through colour, light, and painting. Every journey leaves a mark. Sometimes it is a specific landscape, mountains, the sea, or a horizon emerging in the distance. At other times, it is merely a moment, a colour, a flash of light, or an emotion that cannot be expressed in words. Through painting, I try to preserve precisely that: not only what I saw, but also what I felt. In my works, travel impressions often intertwine with memories, dreams, and my inner world. "Stories of Travel" is not only about specific places; it is about discovery, both of the external world and of oneself. It is about moments you want to bring back home with you. It is about landscapes and places that remain in your memory long after the journey has ended. Perhaps each painting here is a small window into a place I have visited. Or perhaps it is a window into a place I still dream of visiting. I invite you to travel with me, not only through the places I have explored, but also through the emotions, memories, and dreams that these journeys have left within me.”   The exhibition opening and a meeting with the artist will take place on 15 September (Tuesday) at 4:00 p.m. The exhibition will be on display at Gallery A from 2 to 29 September.
