The VILNIUS TECH community and everyone who loves Space is invited to attend a meeting on June 3  (Wednesday), 10.30 AM with Tuva Cihangir Atasever, the second astronaut of the Turkish Space Agency and an avionics engineer. This is a unique opportunity to hear international insights from a professional working in the space sector, learn more about cutting-edge scientific research, and ask questions about the future of astronautics and space technologies. Do you want to create the future, not just read about it? We invite you to join the "Rethinking Energy: Combining Research, Economics, and Technology (RECREATE)" study program. During this program, you will work with a team to find solutions to real-world business challenges, experiment, and learn how to present and pitch your ideas. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience for students from both engineering and social science (business, sustainability, creative industries, etc.) fields. We encourage creators from ALL faculties to apply! The selection process will take place this September, but preparation should start now. Want to learn more? Work on real business cases and challenges (green railways, EV mobility, smart stations, etc.) provided by our program partners: AB "Ignitis grupė" and AB "Lietuvos geležinkeliai". Enhance your CV or portfolio with valuable experiences: analyses, concepts, prototypes, and pitch presentations. Gain interdisciplinary competencies – learn to combine technology, economics, sustainability, policy, regulation, and design. Experience MIT-inspired mentorship: Instead of traditional lectures, you will be mentored under the "Mens et Manus" (Mind and Hand) philosophy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mentors will guide you through feedback, integration, and co-creation. Identify your strengths: By completing real-world tasks, you will gain a clearer understanding of your preferred path: analytics, engineering, product/project management, policy, UX/design, etc. Build a strong network: Work with students from 7 different universities and interact with industry practitioners. These connections often lead to internships, thesis opportunities, or full-time jobs. Participate in a hybrid study format and utilize MITx modules. Earn 30 ECTS credits over the course of 3 semesters. TOPICS AND AREAS (5 ECTS each) The program, developed by 7 Lithuanian universities in collaboration with business partners AB "Ignitis grupė" and AB "Lietuvos geležinkeliai," will cover topics including energy system transformation, sustainable energy use, policy and regulation, renewable energy infrastructure design, embedded energy flow management systems, energy solutions for smart cities, and entrepreneurship. OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION: In September, a call for applications will be announced for 5 spots reserved specifically for VILNIUS TECH students. The Fire Protection and Rescue Department (FPRD) informs that on April 30 (Thursday), a check of the population information and warning system will be carried out in Lithuania. Sirens will be turned on throughout the country at 11:52 a.m., they will sound for 3 minutes – until 11:55 a.m. At the same time, warning messages will be sent to residents on their mobile phones and in the LT72 mobile application. It is emphasized that this is a scheduled check – the siren signal does not mean a real threat. What is important for residents to know When sirens are heard or a warning message is received, residents should turn on Lithuanian radio or television and familiarize themselves with the information being announced – this is what should be done in a real situation. Warning messages are sent to all users on mobile phones, but only those devices with the warning function activated will receive them. Residents are recommended to check their phone settings in advance and enable the reception of warning messages. Instructions are published on the website lt72.lt and in the mobile application LT72. After the inspection, residents are invited to share their experience - if you did not receive a notification, it is important to note this in the questionnaire on the website lt72.lt. Residents' feedback allows us to accurately identify problem areas and promptly resolve them.
