About the Department
In 2002, on the initiative of Prof. Dr. Rimantas Buivydas, a master’s degree program in the History and Theory of Architecture was developed, and the Department of Architectural Foundations and Theory was established.

To train architectural researchers and practitioners who are able to integrate artistic practice, research, and theoretical knowledge into their work.

Art history, research on architectural and urban heritage, the study and design of architectural structures, architectural composition, semantics, and psychology, and the interaction between architecture and the visual arts.

- Art History.
- History, Theory, and Criticism of Architecture.
- Research and Design of Architectural and Urban Planning Projects.
- Research on Architectural and Urban Heritage.
- Issues in Architectural Composition, Semantics, and Psychology.
- Artistic Creation and Artistic Research in the Expanded Field of Architecture and Visual Art.
Scientific and artistic services and expert assessments provided:
- Reviewing and editing scholarly works (monographs, collections of articles, dissertations, and articles).
- Expert evaluation and review of works of art and research.
- Evaluation of Study Programs.
- Evaluation of architectural and urban planning competition entries and works of art intended for public spaces.
- Monitoring of Architectural Processes.
- Assessment and Expert Evaluation of Heritage Sites.
- Organization of Science and Art Events.
- Organizing and curating exhibitions and educational events.
