CROSS TRAINING
Practical Sessions for Students.
CROSS TRAINING – this is a type of physical activity that combines strength and cardiovascular training. The sessions include complex exercises that engage multiple muscle groups at the same time, helping to develop overall physical fitness and improve body performance.
“Cross training” workouts help to improve strength, endurance, flexibility, and coordination, and also reduce the risk of injury. They are especially effective for both athletes and beginners who want to strengthen muscles, increase endurance, improve muscle balance and joint stability, and maintain overall physical fitness.
By attending the sessions, students can receive elective module credits:
Elective Module: “Physical Activity and Health”
First–third year students can choose this module in November for the autumn or spring semester of the academic year (3 credits, SMSSB93702). It is also possible to change the module during the semester (contact the Faculty Office).
This module is intended for first–fourth year students, offering a choice of sports programmes such as basketball, volleyball, tennis, fitness training, self-defence, judo, sambo, body conditioning, Nordic walking, and others.
During practical sessions, students systematically and comprehensively develop physical qualities, psychophysical abilities, skills, and competencies important for their future professional activities. The focus is on endurance, strength, coordination, and establishing regular exercise habits.
Students’ competencies are assessed using a cumulative scoring system based on summative assessment. The final grade consists of evaluations of the selected sports programme techniques by topic, attendance, and accumulated points.
Elective Module – “Healthy Lifestyle”
First–third year students can choose this module in November 2025 for the autumn or spring semester of the academic year (3 credits, SMSSB93802). It is also possible to change the module during the semester (contact the Faculty Office).
Module Aim
To provide students with knowledge that helps them understand the impact of biomedical, social, cultural, and behavioural factors on human health, as well as how these factors can be managed.
During practical sessions, students are introduced to different forms of physical activity based on selected sports programmes (basketball, volleyball, tennis, fitness training, self-defence, Nordic walking, and others). The module develops healthy lifestyle skills and encourages consistent, regular physical activity.
Student Assessment Criteria
Assessment includes attendance, evaluation of students’ self-assessment test results, analysis of a one-day healthy lifestyle monitoring diary, and recommendations for improving health and wellbeing.
