Aircraft maintenance students will learn from professionals
During round table discussions at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU), the representatives of business and science decided that business sector should contribute more to the training of young professionals. In order to improve practical skills of young aviation mechanics and avionics technicians, on June 1st, 2015, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) signed a contract with company "Kaunas Aircraft Maintenance Services‘‘, carrying out ‘’Ryanair’’ aircraft maintenance. The Cooperation Agreement was signed by Alfonsas Daniūnas, the Rector of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University and Karolis Čepukas, the Director of ‘‘Kaunas Aircraft Maintenance Services‘‘.
"This Agreement is only a sign of strengthening our partnership, because we have already been cooperating with the practitioners for a long time. The professionals are happy to talk about their activities during the meetings, students come to the "dream hangar" on guided tours, for practising there, and the graduates often start their working career there. Better cooperation with the experienced professionals will help the students to gain more practical skills and knowledge and to comply with the requirements of the labour market", - said Jonas Vytautas Jusionis, the Director at Aviation Specialists‘ Qualification Improvement Centre.
The agreement provides that the University shall constantly improve and develop the education process, based on the latest scientific achievements, and in accordance with the proposals of the company, as well as implement the company's on-demand research. The University shall also draw up programmes, improving the company professionals’ continuing studies, and shall invite them to the scientific conferences.
"With regard to the global trends and future demands for aviation professionals, we want to prepare for it properly. Therefore, we collaborate with the University, contributing to the development of aviation professionals," – said K. Čepukas, the Director of ‘‘Kaunas Aircraft Maintenance Services‘‘. The company undertakes to invite the University staff and students to the seminars and to support the University laboratories with methodical literature, laboratory equipment, and participate during student's theses defending. The specialists of the company shall also inform the students about the latest developments in aviation mechanics.
