Erasmus+ visit to the University of Kragujevac
Representatives from the Faculty of Business Management the lecturer of the Department of Law Raimonda Bubliene and associated professor of the Department of Business Technologies and Entrepreneurship Dr Jolanta Sabaityte participated in the Erasmus + teaching week in University of Kragujevac (Serbia). The Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Law organized teaching activities on October 7-11, 2019.
The aim of visit was to meet with the heads of faculties, also with students from different studies, and academic community aiming to increase awareness about Lithuania and VGTU and to present opportunities for cooperation, as well as to introduce students to encourage interdisciplinary interest themes and attend part-time studies at the Faculty of Business Management.
VGTU representatives met academia from the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economics, Erasmus coordinators, to discuss wide student exchange opportunities gave lectures on anti-discrimination law, e-commerce, to students and academics. Given lectures were attended over 250 students from different faculties and all study levels. The students of University of Kragujevac presented high logical and critical thinking, also high motivation to increase knowledge.
During the visit, VGTU staff established cooperative relations with the academia of the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Law and discussed an inter-institutional cooperation. The representatives of University of Kragujevac expressed a positive attitude towards a bilateral cooperation agreement between University of Kragujevac and Vilnius Gediminas Technical University.
The visit for the VGTU staff was the lecture about the hospitality as well. The Dean of the Faculty of Economics professor Petar Veselinović invited representatives of VGTU to the Serbia Cup football match FK Vodojaža vs. FK Partizan. After the competition, the representatives of VGTU participated at the official dinner with the Partizan Football Club. During the dinner had a possibility to communicate with Vice President of FK Partizan Dr Vladimir Vuletić and head coach Savo Milosević.
It should be pointed that University of Kragujevac rose from the foundations of the Lyceum of the Principality of Serbia, the first higher education institution in modern Serbia. The University of Kragujevac was established and developed based on the concept of dispersed university, comprising 12 faculties in six towns of the Central Serbia region: Kragujevac, Čačak, Jagodina, Kraljevo, Užice and Vrnjačka Banja. Today the University of Kragujevac is a modern education and research center embracing almost all major areas of teaching and research, with a student population of 20,000 and 1,200 academic staff.
The town of Kragujevac prosperous in history, it was under Turkish and Austrian reign couple of times during XVI and the beginning of the XVII century. In 1815, it was liberated during the Second Serbian Uprising and 3 years later the Serbian prince Miloš Obrenović proclaimed it the capital of the new Serbian State. In early modern Kragujevac, the first Serbian Constitution was proclaimed in 1835. Also the first law on the printing press was passed in 1870. Apart from its political influence, Kragujevac also developed into modern cultural and educational center of modern Serbia like many other European capitals of that time. Kragujevac was home to the first grammar school in Serbia (Gimnazija), first pharmacy and first printing press.
