VGTU is authorized to recognise foreign academic qualifications
Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) is authorized for recognition of foreign academic qualifications concerning higher education, acquired abroad.
The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania (MES) established that VGTU has the staff necessary for the assessment and recognition of foreign academic qualifications; the sources and access to the information required for the recognition of foreign academic qualifications; the appropriate number and diversity of foreign students with education acquired abroad. The University also provides the decision-making quality assurance system.
From now on, foreign nationals, entering our University, no longer have to submit applications to the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (hereinafter referred to as QAC) for the recognition of qualifications acquired abroad. The employees of VGTU will assess the qualifications themselves.
"In order to ensure the quality of the qualification activities, VGTU will assess and recognise foreign academic qualifications, in a student-oriented way and on the basis of the provisions and principles of the Lisbon Recognition Convention. All applicants have the right to a fair assessment of their qualifications within a reasonable time in accordance with transparent, coherent and reliable procedures and without any discrimination,"- said Birutė Tamulaitienė, the Director of VGTU International Study Centre, about the principles of the assessment.
VGTU International Study Centre submitted an application for the authorization of recognition of foreign academic qualifications. The Centre has been consistent in accumulating experience on the recognition of qualifications acquired abroad. Since 2006 the staff of VGTU has already participated at different trainings, discussions and international conferences, organized by the QAC. In 2012, as a partner, VGTU participated at the QAC project ‘‘Improvement of the system on recognition of qualifications concerning higher education acquired abroad (CAPRI)‘‘.
