It’s a can’t miss event for all senior civil engineering students and researchers in the Baltic region. VGTU Faculty of Civil Engineering is hosting the 12th international conference in civil engineering „Modern Building Materials, Structures and Techniques“ on 26–27th of May, at „Best Western Vilnius“ conference centre in Vilnius. It’s the biggest and the oldest civil engineering conference in Baltic countries, attracting the most prominent experts in the field from Europe and other countries, including USA and Australia.

 

The conference is aimed at the most recent industrial and academic research on design of modern structures, development of innovative building materials, maintenance of structures, building technology and management, etc. This year we are expecting around 350 scientists from more than 20 countries, who are going to deliver 200 presentations on contemporary issues in civil engineering. The peer-reviewed selected papers shall be published in “Procedia Engineering” by one of the most famous research publishers “Elsevier”.

 

As usual the conference shall be held in thematic sessions, reflecting the main conference topics: innovative structures and their computing methods, modern building materials, new technologies, etc.

 

 „This conference provides a great opportunity for researchers from Lithuania and other countries to discover each other’s potential and develop comprehensive collaborative activities, such as joint research projects, finding partners for professional training visits, and for joint scientific publications. The theme of the conference covers the most relevant areas of civil engineering and the most pressing nowadays issues. Therefore the knowledge acquired during the conference shall be of great value for Lithuanian professors during the lectures with students, as well as for updating the teaching material and writing scientific papers“, – says the Head of conference organising committee, Vice-dean of VGTU Civil Engineering Faculty, Linas Juknevičius.

 

Starting form year 1991, the Faculty of Civil Engineering at VGTU together with national and international partners has already organised eleven highly successful international scientific conferences in civil engineering. The 11th international conference held 3 years ago was attended by nearly 400 scientists from 23 countries. The peer-reviewed selected papers of the previous conferences were indexed by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceeding Citation Index (ISI Conference Proceedings database).
