Dean's Message
History of the Faculty
The Antanas Gustaitis Aviation Institute was established, and the first pilot flight training sessions were launched.
The institute was named after Antanas Gustaitis.
The Aviation Specialists Development Centre was established.
Cooperation with the General Jonas Žemaitis Military Academy of Lithuania was launched to train military personnel under aviation study programmes.
The management rights of Kyviškės Aerodrome were transferred to AGAI.
Three new Cessna 172S aircraft were purchased.
A Piper Seneca V aircraft was acquired.
Cabri G2 helicopters were acquired, and a helicopter pilot training programme was launched.
A new simulators and laboratories building was opened at 28 Linkmenų Street.
An aircraft maintenance hangar was established.
The institute became an independent faculty.
The first drone festival was organised, and a specialisation in unmanned aerial vehicle engineering was launched.
The aerodrome taxiways and apron were renovated.
A new aircraft maintenance hangar was built.
A new Cessna 182 aircraft was purchased.
A Master’s degree programme in Aerospace Engineering was developed.
AGAI became a member of the PEGASUS network, which brings together European aviation universities.
Unique satellite mission simulation software was acquired.
Laboratory equipment for simulating low Earth orbit conditions (a thermo-vacuum chamber) was installed.

AGAI’s goal is to become a regional leader in the education of aeronautics specialists and to contribute to the development of Lithuania’s space ecosystem.

Technology expertsAGAI educates not only specialists in traditional aviation, but also developers of future technologies. The institute develops fields such as drone system engineering, satellite design and space technologies.

International OpportunitiesAGAI is actively engaged internationally – it is a member of the PEGASUS network, which brings together leading European aviation and aerospace universities, and participates in the Erasmus+ programme.

High standards and requirementsAGAI’s activities comply with international aviation standards and are regularly audited in accordance with ICAO, EASA and Eurocontrol requirements. The institute holds licences as a pilot training organisation (ATO), air traffic controller training organisation (ATCO), aircraft maintenance organisation (Part-CAO), as well as a licence to operate Kyviškės Aerodrome.
