Thesis abstract (LT)

Thesis abstract (EN)
This final thesis analyzes cargo operations on the product tanker “STI Hammersmith”, focusing on teamwork organization, crew communication, and the influence of the human factor on operational safety. The aim of the study is to examine problems arising during cargo operations, evaluate the importance of decision-making and communication processes, and provide practical recommendations for safer and more efficient work on board.
The theoretical part discusses the principles of human factors and Crew Resource Management (CRM) based on international maritime regulations such as SOLAS, STCW, MARPOL, and ISGOTT, as well as relevant scientific literature. The technical characteristics of the vessel, cargo handling systems, and factors affecting crew performance during cargo operations are also analyzed.
In the practical part of the thesis, a voyage from Cadiz to Mongstad is planned. Calculations of navigational instrument errors, position-fixing methods, vessel stability, safety parameters, and tidal influence during cargo operations are carried out in accordance with IMO requirements. The study identifies the main problems related to communication, fatigue, and situational awareness during cargo handling operations and presents recommendations for their prevention.
The thesis also includes an economic evaluation of the voyage, highlighting the importance of effective teamwork for operational safety, smooth cargo handling processes, and commercial performance.
