Artūras Šadzevičius was born in Vilnius. After Vilnius Gediminas Technical University graduation, he worked in the construction sector. Without any art education, he felt creative potential. The opportunity to express himself came when he started working with "tadelakt," a Moroccan plaster used for centuries in Morocco. Typically, this material is used to decorate walls and create mosaics. Once he mastered this natural and versatile material, the artist felt a desire to express his visions through his work. "Tadelakt" is suitable for both spatial and planar representations, using only natural pigments, making it easy to combine with other natural materials such as stone and metal.
The artist does not consider himself an artist or a creator. Artūras Šadzevičius describes his works as interpretations of his inner state. This state influences the choice of colors, shapes, and lines. Even if he finds flaws, the artist does not correct them because only the initial version is "real."
"I named the exhibition "Into Myself" because what was within me and came out can enter the viewers. That "what" (which resides in each of us) can be seen as in a mirror, and some things need to be carefully examined..." says the exhibition's author, Artūras Šadzevičius.
We invite you to visit Artūras Šadzevičius' exhibition "Into Myself" at Gallery A until September 6.
