What is the purpose of this study programme?
Printers, smartphones, air temperature thermostats, refrigerators with digital management mechanisms, smart washing machines, robot grass trimmers, and vacuum cleaners—all of these are products of mechatronics and robotics engineers that we encounter daily. These devices play a crucial role in household chores and serve as integral components of advanced technical systems, medical equipment, and manufacturing for warfare and production.
Mechatronics and robotics specialists have significantly contributed to the fourth industrial revolution, resulting in a reduced demand for human labor. Machines and robots, capable of independent decision-making and organizing work, are replacing human tasks, with humans assuming supervisory roles.
Mechatronics and robotics represent a scientific discipline that integrates key engineering fields, including mechanics, electronics, electrotechnics, automatics, and informatics. The objective of this study program is to prepare versatile specialists proficient in technological, organizational, construction, mechatronic, and robotic systems exploitation, as well as digital production supervision engineering and expertise-advisory work. Throughout the program, students acquire knowledge in IT and programming.
While a vacuum cleaner may appear as a mechanical device, it can also function as an electronically operated robot. It independently vacuums a room, avoiding obstacles through electric impulses and selecting necessary trajectories. The artificial intelligence governing the robot is developed by mechatronics and robotics specialists, significantly enhancing the quality of human life.

Student testimonials
Pritesh Kwatra
Bachelor of Mechatronics and Robotics from India
Lithuania is a stunning and a surprisingly vibrant place to live and study in. I really felt part of a large student community all committed to learning. The Undergraduate community in the Mechatronics and robotics Department is genuinely very friendly and keen to impart knowledge to you. Being able to meet with everyone on your course and other undergraduates and lecturers in coffee breaks on site is an excellent way to relax whilst taking advantage of the expertise all around you.
The academic experience and the overall student experience have benefited my personal development hugely. I have access to fantastic facilities, all within walking distance on campus. VGTU has provided me with high quality lectures and amazing facilities and I have a great social life here. The university’s great at integrating every student into university life. The most important thing for me about the university experience is the chance to grow as a person, as well as academically. VGTU has exceeded my expectations. I was so quiet when I first started here and now I have gained confidence and am less quiet. The library is open 24/7 during term time and is so useful. There are several different types of learning areas, silent study, group study. I have used all of these areas for different types of work and they have been really helpful. I believe that VGTU has made me a more confident and independent individual. It has opened doors that I never thought were available and let me experience things I never thought I would. I have been able to try new things and make new friends as well as discover knowledge in something I am so interested in. I chose to study at VGTU because I was looking for a university that has both a strong teaching programme and opportunities to develop robotics skills to allow me to have a successful career. VGTU continues to ensure that all students are able to gain practical experience and enjoy being part of a vibrant and diverse university community. |
