VILNIUS TECH discusses technologies for combating drones in border areas
An international seminar entitled “Countering Low Flying Objects (LFOs) in Border Areas” was held on May 19 and 20, 2025. This event was co-organized by Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH) in collaboration with various international security institutions. The seminar convened more than 40 participants and speakers from Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Moldova, and Australia, including senior officials from border security agencies, technology developers, and academic experts.
The seminar featured a series of keynote presentations and discussions hosted at VILNIUS TECH, incorporating valuable insights from the Lithuanian State Border Guard Service and the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board. The second day consisted of live demonstrations of advanced anti-drone technologies at Ignalina Airport, provided by both regional and global companies.
In addition to facilitating the exchange of technological expertise and engaging in substantive operational discussions, attendees expressed a strong commitment to enhancing collaboration in academic and research domains. Future partnerships are anticipated to encompass both theoretical and practical initiatives, including joint research projects and coordinated efforts in pursuing government funding opportunities at both local and international levels.
This collaborative event significantly advanced international dialogue and showcased effective strategies for addressing drone-related threats in sensitive border regions.
