The aim of the Road, Railway and Urban Engineering study programme is to train specialists who: have the general and special knowledge required for professional activities in planning, design, communication and maintenance of roads and railways; know the engineering structures of cities; can apply software, technologies and materials used in road and railway construction processes; can organise road and street maintenance works as well as implement urban planning, design, urban infrastructure and management projects.

Two specialisations of Road and Railway Engineering and Urban Engineering are introduced after the fourth semesters of full-time studies. Road and Railway Engineering specialisation courses are focused on methods and technologies for road and railway infrastructure planning, design, construction and maintenance. Urban Engineering specialisation courses are focused on urban planning and design, maintenance and management of urban infrastructure, installation of smart city communication systems and engineering networks.

What will I learn?

After graduation you will be able to:

engineer roads, streets, bridges and other transportation structures, railways, and airfield infrastructures;
carry out maintenance and construction of transport infrastructure;
apply acquired knowledge in organization and in order to ensure traffic safety on roads and streets, solve tasks of environmental protection and economic development of transport infrastructure;
analyse and evaluate urban and regional areas and their planning problems; develop solution strategies;
collect process and interpret data necessary when facing construction engineering, sustainable living environment and urban area planning challenges with the help of a computer technology application;
predict the impact on the environment, its components and people, and solve rising problems competently; you will have skill working with measuring instruments and have independent learning skills, which are necessary in order to continue next cycle studies.

What are career opportunities after graduation?
Graduates of this study programme:

can work at road or rail fields, also they can engineer roads, railroads, streets, bridges and other transportation structures, as well as carry out maintenance and construction of transport infrastructure.
will be able to work at city and regional municipal institutions and municipal companies. They will be capable of maintenance and management of urban infrastructures, larger city public transport management and maintenance companies, city traffic management and road traffic information centres, planning companies that prepare territorial planning documents, mobility plans, traffic management, organization and technical projects.
