Hybrid learning approach is applied in this study programme. Hybrid learning is an educational model where some students attend class in-person, while others join the class virtually from home.

Regardless of how brilliant of an idea you may have you will need money to implement it. Cash injections are necessary to start any business. Even though free money is available, it is frequently not clear where to look for it or how to best use it. For that reason, a number of financial engineering tools, aimed at meeting financial needs, have been developed.

The Master of Science (MSc) study program in Financial Engineering program is designed with the public interest and market needs in mind and is a system where the interests of key study program stakeholders – students, the university, business and the public sector – interact.

This study program aims not only to present classical financial management theories, but also to pass on the knowledge of effective and innovative tools for financial management.

During the studies, the attitudes of engineering thinking and project-based thinking are shaped. Particular attention is paid to the time factor, knowledge of financial risk and assessment of uncertainty in making financial management decisions in any field of financial engineering, be it investment portfolio management, business value management, use of financial technologies and others.
The application of quantitative research methods, databases and computer programs in the study process provides exceptional knowledge and skills in financial engineering.

During this Master's study program, one of the following three tracks are offered: FinTech (Financial Technologies), Investment Management and Value Engineering.

FinTech (Financial Technologies) are technology-based financial innovations that help create new business models, business applications, processes and products. These innovations have a significant impact on financial markets, institutions and financial services. Such innovations are used both by newly created start-ups in this field and by traditional financial institutions that introduce new technologies in their activities.

This is basically relevant to any business that uses technology to improve or automate financial services or processes. Financial technologies can be applied in banking, insurance companies, investment programs and elsewhere.

During the FinTech study program, would be professionals are trained to apply the knowledge of financial engineering science and practice in framing, evaluating and making effective and scientifically based decisions related to the development and use of financial technologies. Such decisions are made taking into consideration the risk and uncertainty, ever changing societal needs and technological progress.

The FinTech study program is also conducted in English.

Investment Management. How can we possibly create our financial well-being even before retirement,how can we possibly travel more and work less? Whenever we start talking about investing, we often imagine a life free of any financial concerns. However, to make sure that our investment contributes to our financial enrichment, specialized knowledge is needed how to turn investments into financial assets.

These specialization studies are designed to train professionals who will deal with investment management issues taking into account the provisions of the country's sustainable development. The study program will develop investment intelligence and the ability to predict the consequences of investment.

Some of the subjects of this specialization are taught in English.

Value engineering is an in-depth knowledge of the value chain and the application of that knowledge in solving value creation challenges.

The knowledge and skills of value engineering help today's business to efficiently use financial resources, plan project execution time, increase project value, etc.

Value is often defined as the ratio of function to price, so that value could be managed by improving the function or reducing costs. The basic principle of value engineering is to increase value without reduction of functionality.

This specialization is designed to train professionals who will have the competencies in applying the principles of value creation to the existing human or natural creations, their products and in planning the activities of human beings or economic operators.

What competencies shall I acquire?

The Master's Degree Program in Financial Engineering is designed to build up knowledge of:

financial engineering concepts, research methodologies, quantitative and expert decision methods;
principles of investment management, investment management techniques and possible solutions to problems
principles, methods and possible solutions to value creation;
principles for the development, use and regulation of financial technologies and possible solutions;
analyze, synthesize and evaluate research data, integrate financial engineering knowledge and manage complex situations, make decisions under the conditions of risk and uncertainty.

Graduates of the Financial Technologies (FinTech) specialization will acquire the skills to develop, adapt and apply financial technology tools that are adequate to the processes under consideration, which can be used to solve practical financial engineering tasks and conduct research in this field.

Graduates of the Investment Management specialization will will develop the skills to invest and give guidance on how to invest in the currency, capital, funds and derivatives markets; develop investment projects that foster value growth.

Graduates of the Value Engineering specialization will develop the skills to design projects in the field of value creation, development sustainability and development of competitiveness taking into consideration risk and uncertainty.

Working as a financial specialist in international and national organizations, FinTech companies, banks and other financial institutions.

Conducting scientific and applied research, applying the said research, framing and making sound financial decisions in the fields of investment, value engineering, development and use of financial technologies.

Holding senior positions in national or international organizations, banks, specialized investment management and financial brokerage firms.

Holding management positions in national or international organizations, the specifics of which are directly related to value-added solutions, development, evaluation and purchase or sale of various projects or businesses.
