Environmental work at VILNIUS TECH campus
Next year, the university plans to transform the outdoor spaces – aiming to create a sustainable, aesthetically driven, and functional public space for the convenience for both the university community and the residents of Vilnius. This autumn started with the work in landscaping and forest management. The cold season is ideal for managing the forests before the bird nesting season in spring.
The community has already noticed forest maintenance specialists and special equipment working around the Saulėtekio Campus (located at Saulėtekio al. 11 and Saulėtekio al. 38 plots). Their task is to remove hazardous trees, clear fallen trees – the result of strong winds, and manage dried-out and invasive trees along with shrubs. These works are being carried out by a company selected through a public procurement process. The company plans to complete the work by the end of this year.
Next year, we plan to continue environmental improvements around the S3 building and the inner courtyard between the S3, S2, and S7 buildings. After the cleanup, the company plans to remove the remaining wood in the coming weeks and turn it into biofuel.
