Understandably, people feel it’s risky to tell anyone about their health problems. It‘s a very sensitive and personal topic. The main concern is how others will react: will they be sympathetic or pity me, will they start to behave and treat me differently because of what I told them? Although most health problems are invisible, meaning that certain health problems do not manifest outwardly and nobody can tell if one has any just by looking at them, the main question remains: should I tell anyone or should I not?
First of all, a conversation with the Disability Affairs Coordinator is confidential. That means no one will know if you contact or have a meeting with the Coordinator. If you decide to make a study adjustment, you will fill in study support recommendations only about modifications to your studies, without mentioning what kind of health problem you have. In addition, only the personnel related to the adjustment will have access to that document.
Although health problems are personal and very sensitive information, Vilnius Tech is seeking to be as inclusive as possible and ensure equal opportunities for all students for successful studies.
