We invite you to visit the the photography exhibition by Agnė Vaitkevičiūtė „Will we be able to preserve Costa Rica's nature?“ hosted at Gallery A on the second floor of the VILNIUS TECH Library.
Last year, I visited Costa Rica for the first time and was amazed by the nature and biodiversity of this tiny Central American country, also known as the "green paradise." Despite its small size, Costa Rica has one of the highest levels of biodiversity in the world, being the home of nearly 5% of the planet's animal, bird, and insect species, and the "lungs of the planet" - the humid rainforests that are essential for oxygen production and ensuring the survival of biological habitats.
However, Costa Rica faces a huge climate change. Climate change is rapidly altering a wide range of sensitive ecosystems. They are particularly affected by an increasing number of storms and other natural disasters. Even living in Lithuania, we can help prevent the rapid loss of Costa Rica's ecosystems. Perhaps we could walk or cycle to work, or share our car with family, friends or colleagues, perhaps it is a good idea to not leave a plastic bottle in nature but bring it to a designated bin, maybe it is better to sort our waste at home? Seems simple, but have we ever thought that by such small steps we could prevent rapid climate change and help preserve not only Costa Rican but also Lithuanian nature?
In this photography exhibition, I invite you to get to know Costa Rica's nature and persuade yourself that it is really worth preserving! (A. Vaitkevičiūtė)
